Health and Social Care BTEC Level 3 Diploma at The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London

Course description

This course is an ideal choice if you want to pursue a career in nursing, midwifery, health promotion, occupational therapy or speech therapy.  It covers a range of subjects including public health, effective communication in health, equality and diversity, rights and also working in the health sector.  It also covers anatomy and physiology, taking into account the physiological disorders you might encounter.  You will also have an opportunity to study skills in communication, numeracy and literacy, and IT. In addition, there will be specific units to enable you to acquire study skills for university.

Course content

This course is taught through a mixture of lectures, group activities, discussions and practical activities. Assessment is through coursework assignments and portfolio tasks. We will help you to organise a work placement for one day a week.

Entry requirements

You will need to be at least 16 years of age. You will also need a minimum of four GCSEs at A-C including English Language or the BTEC First/Level 2 Diploma at merit/ distinction level and English language GCSE at C or above, DBS checks are required.

Assessment

You must complete a minimum of 100 hours and achieve a pass for your work experience.

Future opportunities

You could use this qualification for additional UCAS points to apply for a range of university courses including social work, nursing or midwifery, teacher training, psychology, occupational therapy and social policy. You can also use your qualification to go straight into employment.
