Course description

This course is a one-year course covering the following two modules, but may be studied over 2 years. » Unit 1 Prepared Oral TopicTarget language discussion of a prepared topic dealing with the target language country» Unit 2 Reading, Writing, Listening and RespondingRetrieving and conveying information on the basis of printed target language material (responses written mainly in target language). Retrieving and conveying information on the basis of recorded target language material (responses written mainly in target language)Further modules required for A2» Unit 3 Oral Exam 15 minute debate» Unit 4 Discursive essay and research based topic. This will mean >>> You will be able to understand and communicate in the written and spoken language, for a variety of purposes in the following topic areas; day-to-day issues and events, society and culture, citizenship and the environment, the working world and the international context. You will be able to complement your other studies by pursuing selected areas of interest in greater depth and hopefully you will have a greater understanding and appreciation of Europe. You will have 4 x 1 hour lessons per week and will be taught by at least 2 members of the Languages Department. You will also be offered supported self-study periods. Further lessons with a language assistant will also be available to help you improve your speaking skills.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE’s at grade C or above, including GCSE Spanish.
