Core Maths Level 3 at Leyton Sixth Form College

Course description

Core Maths is a new set of Level 3 qualifications for students who have already achieved a grade C or higher in GCSE Maths and English and who want to continue studying maths to support their vocational subject or A Levels.


 

Course content

What units/topics will be studied?

ocr (Mei) Level 3 in Quantitative reasoning – which complements vocational courses and ocr (Mei) Level 3 in Quantitative Problem solving – which complements a Level courses. 

The courses focus on using and applying mathematics to solve everyday problems you will meet in other subjects, in the workplace and at university. It is a course that makes extensive use of spreadsheets and will teach you EXCEL skills to use in your future career, as well as improving and advancing your maths skills.

Entry requirements

You need to be on a Level 3 Programme with a C in GCSE Maths and a C in GCSE English to study this course.

Assessment

Core Maths is assessed by two end of course exams. It is also supported by an extensive online course.

Future opportunities

This course can help you obtain employment where maths skills are required for problems solving and data analysis and assist you with university courses where you need some maths to support your main subject.
