Course description

This course will give you an introduction to the world of health and social care.

Course content

The course will support you to develop an understanding of the key aspects of health and social care. 

You will learn about the care needs of:

  • Children
  • The elderly
  • People with physical and learning disabilities

You will study a range of units such as:

  • Health and Safety
  • Care values
  • Activities
  • Development

Entry requirements

GCSEs at grades D to E are required. If you didn’t achieve this, your suitability for the course will be based on personal skills and experiences as discussed at an interview.

Assessment

All assessments for the Level 1 Diploma will be through a range of assessments such as posters, short projects or written assignments.

Future opportunities

Students are supported to progress on to the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care/Childcare, or gain an apprenticeship within the care sector.
