Course description

COURSE STRUCTURE - AS LEVEL

Year 12 is split into two units: Society and Health – Which covers demographics, family, society, environmental, social issues and health. 25% of full A Level and assessed through 1 Hour 30 minute exam Resource Management – Which covers food preparation and provision, cooking equipment , purchase management of food products - 25% of full A Level and assessed through 1 Hour 30 minute exam There is no coursework element to the course at AS Trip to the BBC Good Food Show A field trip with the emphasis on research and evidence gathering for social and cultural trends.

COURSE STRUCTURE – A2 LEVEL

Year 13 is split into two units: Coursework Study – In this unit candidates select their own content and develop a task to base their study on. 25% of the full A Level Nutrition and Food Production – Candidates study nutrients and energy; nutritional and dietary needs of different groups of people; properties of food; design, development and production of food; advances in the food industry. 25% of full A Level and assessed through 1 Hour 30 minute exam

Entry requirements

In order to access this course students must have achieved a minimum of A* - C in 5 different subjects including English and Maths at GCSE Level.
