Business Studies A Level at Audenshaw Sixth Form College
Year 12 - Curriculum Information
It is not necessary for students to have studied GCSE Business Studies in order to take A Level. However, we do require students to have a strong grasp of numeracy and literacy, and therefore require them to have grade B in Maths and English.
Students follow the AQA exam board. All students will sit 2 Units. The first Unit will be an exam based unit where they will be tested on key functional areas of a business. This unit is worth 20% of the overall A Level and 40% of the AS.
The second Unit is also exam based and is worth 30% of the overall A Level and 60% of the AS.
Year 13 - Curriculum Information
All students again will sit a further 2 Units.
Unit 3 looks at larger businesses and concentrates of strategy and objectives. The Unit is exam based and is worth 25% of the overall A Level.
Unit 4 has a research element to it where students will be given a topic to research during class time. They will then be given essay questions to complete in the exam. Again, this Unit is worth 25% of the overall A Level.
To enrich the course students will take part in enterprise days, mini projects such as student investor where students can compete in a national share competition. Over the course of the two years students will attend a department trip to support coursework.
