Course description

Course Content: The course provides a good oveview of all aspects of Business education including; the different types of Business ownership, how to manage finance within a business and marketing and recruitment. You will be assessed in a variety of ways including report writing, presentatons and role play scenarios. The course helps you to work independently as well as developing your ability to work as part of a team. You will study 6 units in total. The 3 outlined below and 3 that are chosen by the group. Unit 1- Business Environment: This unit provides a general understanding of the different factors that can impact on a business' performance; including factors that are in and out of the business' control. You will study 2 businesses in detail to research how they manage these factors to maximise their performance. Unit 2 - Business Resources: This unit provides a good understanding of how businesses organise themselves to get the best results. You will look at 1 business in depth to see hpw they identify and then organise their resources to meet the needs of their customers. Unit 3 - Marketing: This unit looks at both aspects of marketing. This includes how businesses research their customers needs and wants and then how they communicate to those customers why they should choose them. You will research whether a business of your choice should open up in the local area. Assessment: Assessment is through coursework. This can include reports, presentations and role play scenarios. The course is all about learning business theory and applying it to real life businesses and situations to demonstrate your understanding.

5 GCSEs at grade C or above.

This course is ideal preperation for any degree course, but especially in Business, Administration, Marketing, Human Resources, Advertising, Finance or Accounting. It is a course that is highly valued by universities and employers as it allows you to develop good 'people skills', high levels of independence and organisational skills. It will also help you to apply for Advanced Apprenticeships.
