Sport and Active Leisure BTEC Level 1 Diploma at Barnet and Southgate College

Course description

Post -16 students who want to go on to further study and who have an academic interest in Sport and/or those wanting a career in the sports industry. BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Sport is designed to equip you with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills required for successful employment in sport and recreation industries. It also prepares you for the BTEC Level 2 Award in Sport (NQF). It would be advantageous to have previous experience playing competitive sport.

Course content

This course covers topics such as: participating in sports, dance, exercise and fitness activities; anatomy and physiology; training for health and fitness; and employability. Applicants have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience as part of the curriculum. Every student will be attached to an academy relevant to their own sporting preference.

Entry requirements

Applicants are required to have 2 GCSE at grades A*-E one of which must be English You must have a interest and choose from one of the following academies on your application: Athletics, basketball, football, leadership, rugby, boxing or tennis.

Assessment

Coursework & practical observations.

Future opportunities

BTEC L2 Award in Sport or NVQ Level 2 in activity leadership.
