Fine Art AS/A2 at Sir Frederic Osborn School

Course description

Fine Art gives visual form to individual thoughts, ideas,
feelings and insights. Traditional and new media develop
the challenge of the creative process and experimentation will be

encouraged.
Work will develop personal interests and issues which can focus
on cultural, social or political contexts, developing students as both
practitioners and critics. An understanding of continuity and change
in the differing genres, styles and traditions of Fine Art practice will
be developed.
At AS Level, the course comprises two units and in both,
preparatory work forms the essential process towards realizing the
final outcome piece.
At A2 Level, the course comprises two units. In both units,
research into the work of a known artist or art movement will be
essential for the development of preparatory work and resultant
outcomes.
This course prepares you for access to leading or local Colleges of
Art and other related degree courses. Students have successfully
completed degrees in Architecture, Fashion, Model making for the
film industry, Product Design, Graphics, Theatre Design, Fine Art,
and Textiles, both constructed and printed.

Entry requirements

A*-C GCSE in Art or related subject*APS: 40 or above
