Performing and Production Arts Dance Level 3 Extended Diploma at Lincoln College

Course description

If you want to pursue a career as a professional dancer then this is an excellent place to start. This course will provide you with the underpinning skills and knowledge to progress through the levels of dance. You will gain practical experience in different types of performance and build up your confidence and stamina as a dancer, as you work through a series of practical projects. You will take part in several performances during the year, keeping a reflective journal of your progress, attend workshops held by visiting professional actors and learn from various trips to West End and touring professional shows. Your final major production will be staged at a public theatre venue.
Upon successful completion, you will be able to seek employment within the music industry or progress onto Higher Education.
During this course, you will explore, both theoretically and practically, the following topics: study rehearsal techniques; choreographing your own work; the history of the dance industry; developing core strength and stamina to prevent injuries; solo and ensemble pieces; audition techniques; combining singing with dance and aspects of preparing a production.


Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSE’s including English Language (minimum Grade C) or equivalent qualifications. 
You will be required to attend an interview, where you have an audition. You are also required to provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).


Assessment is a combination of individual meetings and formal assessments, where work is submitted for grading.
