Course description

The NVQ Level 3 qualification is suitable for candidates who have achieved a Level 2 qualification and wish to extend their knowledge and practical skills. It provides an advanced level of knowledge and practical skills linked to the industry, which help to produce a skilled craftsperson capable of working on various aspects of the trade with the minimum of supervision.

Course content

The NVQ Level 3 qualification is suitable for candidates who have achieved a Level 2 qualification and wish to extend their knowledge and practical skills. It provides an advanced level of knowledge and practical skills linked to the industry, which help to produce a skilled craftsperson capable of working on various aspects of the trade with the minimum of supervision. For those students wishing to progress on into management, this course provides an excellent level of education. The course will follow a similar pattern to that of the Level 2 but dealing with work of a more advanced and complex nature and a greater emphasis on supervision roles within the construction industry. In this advanced qualification apprentices will also have to complete a Functional Skills which includes numerical skills and communication techniques. Entry requirements

Applicants must have 3 GCSEs at grade A*-C or have already completed a relevant NVQ/Diploma at Level 2, possibly as a Level 2 Apprentice. To enter this programme you will need to show enthusiasm, commitment and interest in the subject area and be employed in the industry.

Assessment

You will be assessed through a series of practical observations, oral questions, written assignments and internal/external written examination papers.

Future opportunities

This course can lead to a higher level qualification such as BTEC or HNC programme.

Further information

You will need white bib and brace overalls, steel toe cap footware, hi vis jacket, pen, pencil, workpad/notebook and City and Guilds Level 3 text book.
