The Level 3 Access to Higher Education in Business and Management course is delivered over four days, 9.30 – 2.30.
There are weekly tutorials where one to ones take place and you set own targets for development of specific skills and knowledge, including completion of the UCAS process.
Your learning is further supported by Boodle, the College student website, where all resources, assignments and schemes of work are uploaded.
You will cover the following units:
- People in Organisations
- Introduction to Marketing
- Introduction for Finance
- Business Environment – Internal
- Business Environment – External
- Business Communications
- Marketing Research
- Marketing Communications
- Small Business Strategy
- Project & Event Management
- Leadership & Management
You should have a minimum of GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above. You will also be invited for an Advice & Guidance interview with the tutor.
If you do not meet the entry requirements, we would advise you to consider enrolling on our Pre-Access to Higher Education course and the IGCSE English Language.
Your work will be assessed through presentations, discussion, tests, projects, essays, leaflets, posters and a research project. Any unit with more than one assessment will use different methods of assessment to ensure variety and enable you to present information and learning in different formats. There are no exams on this course.
If you are aged 16-18, tuition and registration fees are free.
If you are aged 19 or over, tuition and registration fees are payable at the start of each year of study; please ask for details.
If you are aged 24 or over, you may be eligible for a Student Loan to assist with your fees; please ask for details.
If you take out a 24+ Adult Learning Loan in order to join this course and then you complete the course and progress on to a Higher Education qualification, it is likely that this first 24+ Loan will be cancelled.
On successful completion of this course, you could progress to the HNC/D Business course at BCoT. Alternatively, this would be an appropriate qualification to go on and study a Business Management degree (BA Hons) at University; BCoT has good links with Southampton Solent University and the University of Winchester, for example.
