Biology A-Level at Hereford Cathedral School

Course description

Biology is the study of life in all its intricacies and wonders. Biology looks at the past and how we came to be here, while also studying the way our body works. Biology also studies the interactions between all the species living on Earth. Almost everything you do during the day has a biological reason.

Course content

Cell biology (cytology), microscopy, cell cycle, cell specialization, cardiovascular and respiratory systems, plant physiology, biomolecules including carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, nucleic acids and enzymes, cardiovascular diseases including coronary heart disease, immune response, biodiversity and evolution, ecology.

Entry requirements

Minimum B in Triple Biology and AA in Dual Biology.

Future opportunities

There are over 30 different branches of biology from agriculture and anatomy to virology and zoology, with quite a few in between that you have probably never heard of.
