Course description

Calling all golf enthusiasts! This is your chance to train with the acclaimed Ian Woosnam Academy at Malkins Bank Golf Club in Sandbach.

You will develop vital skills to prepare you for a career in the golfing industry, working with dedicated PGA coaches to develop your own training programmes.

The Academy gives everybody the opportunity to get into golf develop their game with one to one coaching with PGA qualified professionals. Whether looking for a career in golf or just wanting to learn a game that link businesses worldwide, this course will cater for your needs working primarily on developing your swing but also studying each of the following areas:

You will gain:

  • Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sports Performance and Excellence
  • Functional Skills or GCSE in English and Maths depending on previous qualifications

  • Principles of anatomy and physiology (1/2 unit)

  • Technical and tactical skills in sport

You will study 6 units from the list above for the Subsidiary Diploma option

Entry requirements

  • At least 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above including English and Maths, or
  • „Level 2 Diploma in Sport at merit grade or equivalent Level 2 Diploma
  • You must be able to demonstrate an interest in golf. A high level of ability isn’t required to access the academy, but it is expected that you have some experience of playing golf. Training will then be based on your current level of performance

    • You will be studying in the beautiful, rural setting of Cheshire, one mile from the market town of Nantwich with good connections to Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool and Chester. 

      The Reaseheath campus itself is small enough to retain its friendly, family atmosphere, but large enough for you to be able to mix with lots of groups of students. 

      Our front lawn is great to sit out on during the summer and the College lake has much wildlife to watch. 

      Over the past few years we have invested over £50 million in our campus to give you the best possible environment for learning. 

      A further £30 million investment is planned for the campus including a £6 million advanced agricultural technology and engineering facility, new halls of residence and new sporting facilities.
