Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 2 Diploma at West Lancashire College

Course description

This course offers an excellent Beauty Therapy qualification; covering facials, manicure, pedicure, eye treatments, make-up, waxing, anatomy and physiology and reception.

This course is ideal for those who wish to gain employment within the Beauty Therapy profession. This course is suitable for learners who are leaving school those wishing to train within the Beauty Therapy industry.

Learners will undertake a period of work experience appropriate to your course as part of the programme of study.

Maths and English will be part of your programme of study and you will study qualifications in Maths and English, appropriate to your level of ability, alongside your chosen course.

Students should be able to demonstrate a commitment to entering a career in the relavent industry and an understanding of the requirements of working in this area. Students must be able to work effectively with others and be willing to carry out and receive treatments. You will be expected to carry out treatments on the general public.

All students must wear college uniform purchased from the Beauty Therapy department. You will also need to provide paying models for your practical assessments. A certain level of manual dexterity will be required for beauty therapy courses.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 3 GCSE’s Grade D preferably including English and maths or completion of a Level 1 Beauty Therapy qualification.


Assessment is by practical observation, oral questioning, case studies, written essential knowledge papers, assignments and end examinations set by the examination awarding body, an Internal/external examiner will assess all portfolio evidence and practical skills.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of the course may lead to the NVQ Level 3 in Beauty Therapy, Complementary Therapies Level 2 or NVQ Level 2 Nail Services.
