Creative Media: Games Development BTEC Level 2 Extended Diploma at Portsmouth College
This course provides an introduction to the field of design and production of consumer gaming products. You will explore how the games industry operates in a competitive, media-orientated market place and develop your own software and design skills. The qualification (at merit or above) could lead directly to employment in the media/games industry. Alternatively, you could progress to level 3 courses in this or related subjects.
This is a practical course which provides an opportunity to develop skills in the creative media industry, and in particular in the development and production of Games. Course units can include:
- Research for Creative Media Production
- Communication Techniques for Creative Media Production
- Digital Graphics
- 2D Digital Art for Computer Games
- Deconstructing Computer Games
- 2D Games Engines
Five GCSEs at an average of grade E, to include English Language.
This is achieved through continuous assessment of coursework, including practical activities. There are no external examinations.
You will be able to join an educational visit to the Eurogamer Expo in London where you will be able to attend seminars and obtain specialist careers advice for the industry. You will also have the chance to play new releases prior to their launch date.
