Geography A/S at Immanuel College

Course description

Geography studies the whole world and everything in it. Study of geography allows us to interpret the landscape that we move in, and to predict the weather affecting us; it provides the knowledge and understanding of human behaviour that permits an informed and humanistic approach to those around us. Geography is also a subject applied on a day to day basis by people in work - planners, architects and builders, farmers, policemen. The list is endless.

Course content

The AQA B specification follows on from the GCSE syllabus studied at Key Stage 4 and allows the first module (on glaciation) to be taken in January. The syllabus provides a mix of physical and human Geography. Field study is an integral part of the course. A level geography is useful for a wide range of university courses and careers.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs grade C or above.A C grade in GCSE geography is ideal however it is not a requirement.

Further information

Geography is a recognized subject of value for a wide range of university courses, both Science and Arts subjects. It is also valued by employers in a wide range of careers.
