Hairdressing Level 2 Diploma at The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London

Course description

If you want to work as a junior hair stylist, this course will introduce you to working in the industry.  You will need time for personal study and you must be able to purchase your own hairdressing kit and uniform. 

You will study units like promoting services and products, health and safety; client consultation; shampoo and conditioning; cutting women’s hair, colour and lighten hair; perming hair and the art of dressing hair. 

There are also optional units in relaxing African type hair, styling African type hair, providing scalp massage, and creating an image based on a theme. You will be required to study functional skills in English and maths. 

Course content

This course has practical sessions delivered in commercial salons with theory, using state of the art interactive whiteboards and ICT provision to help with assignments. One to one tutorial support is provided with industry qualified lecturers with current and up-to-date knowledge.

Entry requirements

You will need GCSE grades or equivalent C-D in English. If you do not have these requirements you will be required to take the College’s Initial Assessment.


Practical assessments are carried out on clients, and theory assessments are carried out through online assessment and assignments.

Future opportunities

After this course you could progress to a vocational qualification Level 3 in Hairdressing or Level 2 Beauty Therapy.
