Creative Writing at Attleborough Academy Norfolk
If you have inspiration and drive to write, then this is the course for you. Students have the opportunity to write in a range of forms: prose ﬁction, poetry, scripts and prose non-ﬁction. You will develop your creativity and technical writing skills, along with critical and analytical skills, team working, giving and receiving feedback and creative problem solving.
AS Level Units (Year 12): Writing On Demand A 2 hour written exam (40% of AS, 20% of A Level) - Students will answer two questions from a choice of four. Both will involve the production of texts based on practical writing scenarios. Exploring Creative Writing Coursework (60% of AS, 30% of A Level) - Students submit two creative pieces of work in two different forms (max 3000 words) and a reﬂective commentary (max 1500 words).
A2 Units (Year 13): From Reading to WritingA 3 hour written exam (20% of A Level) - Students answer two questions based on their selection of one stimulus text from a choice of ﬁve. The Writing Portfolio Coursework (30% of A Level) - Students will produce a portfolio of creative work (max 4000 words) and a full reﬂective commentary (max 2000 words), with bibliography and evidence of redrafting.
To study Creative Writing at A Level you will be required to achieve, in addition to the general requirements, a minimum of C grades in English/English Language and in either English Literature or Media Studies. More importantly, potential candidates will need a ﬂair for writing and a strong desire to read a range of texts.
