Technical Bacclaureate at Macclesfield College

Course description

The TechBacc (Technical Baccalaureate) programme is aimed at ambitious students that want to pursue a technical career. It gives young people the opportunity to be stretched through high-quality, rigorous qualifications, and to demonstrate their personal best.

The programme combines a major vocational component, based around the successful BTEC Level 3 Diploma courses with a Level 3 Maths qualification and an accredited project qualification to create a study programme designed to provide you with a head start in a range of technology-based careers.

Course content

Apart from your main BTEC specialism, you will also take: a ‘core Maths’ qualification to take your numeracy skills well beyond GCSE and an Extended Project Qualification where you will be linked to an employer and carry out a work-based research project. There will also be the opportunity to complete high quality work experience.

Entry requirements

You will need at least three B grades and two C grades from your GCSEs, including GCSE English Language and Maths at C or above.

Future opportunities

The qualification has been developed in response to feedback from employers and universities to provide the skills needed for future professionals in a wide range of technical careers.
