First Certificate in Sport at Immanuel College
BTEC First Certificates are designed to provide specialist work-related qualifications in a range of sectors. They have been developed to provide a preparation for employment and/or to provide career development opportunities for those already in work.
The level 2 BTEC in sport offers the students an opportunity to gain a foundation level qualification as a progression from their GCSEs. Successful completion of the course will gain a BTEC worth the equivalent of 2 GCSEs. Students can expect to learn about their own body, health, safety and preparing their body for exercise. Much of the course is academic and classroom based, with opportunity to use skills studied in a practical situation.
Students need a minimum Grade D in Physical Education or Grade D in English and Science
Assessment is over 3 coursework modules to be completed in a one year couse.
BTEC level 3 in Sport, AS level PE or use of GCSEs qualification to apply for courses requiring GCSE Grade C or higher.
The course does not need good practical ability, just need to be keen and interested about sport.
