Independent Living Skills Pre Entry Level at New College Stamford

Course description

This course is designed to offer you the opportunity to focus on developing your personal and social skills. You will develop new life skills, as well as studying other topics such as:Independent livingPersonal presentationPersonal careGood healthMobilityCitizenshipMoney handlingBudgetingCommunicationDeveloping friendshipsYou will also explore a range of leisure and enrichment activities.This programme also include sessions in English and maths, enrichment, tutorials, independence and supported study.

Entry requirements

No formal qualification required.

Assessment

You will be assessed on their progress throughout the year and build a portfolio of evidence. The work is validated by an external verifier from AIM Awards. Functional skills will involve tests at the appropriate level.

Future opportunities

After one year, you may remain at the same level or progress on to the Independent Living (Life and Work) Entry Level 2 course at New College Stamford.

You will be provided with opportunities to develop skills that support your social and personal development, and undertake employability sessions including work experience.All of our programmes are underpinned by the opportunity to develop life skills. These include: independent living skills, communication development, travel training and safety in the community.
