Warehousing and Storage Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship at Wiltshire College
The Level 2 Warehousing and Storage apprenticeship covers the movement and storage of goods, and is an essential part of logistics operations for small or large businesses
such as: large scale warehousing, logistics, warehousing in shops and centres as well as depots and distribution centres.
Depending on your employer and size of the business, you could be working in the warehouse receiving goods from suppliers, checking in deliveries, palletising stock, racking away, preparing outbound stock, and distributing goods.
Although the exact role will differ from company to company, the skills you learn and develop in Warehousing and Storage will be very transferable and applicable to all logistics companies:
- How to operate specialist machinery such as fork lifts
- How to improve your spatial awareness, so that you can quickly and efficiently load objects of different shapes and sizes
- Learn about keeping some goods at low temperatures
- Manage stock
- Audit inventory
- Keep equipment in good working order
- Process returned goods
- Manage the receipt, storage and dispatch of goods
- Maintain the safety of hazardous goods and materials
You’ll also learn how to maintain health and safety, and work towards a certificate in logistics and transport.
Minimum Entry Level 3 or GCSE grade E in Maths and English. All applicants will be required to pass initial assessments in Maths and English.
Apprenticeships are designed with the help of employers, so they offer a structured programme that takes you through the skills you need to do a job well. Each apprenticeship involves a structured programme of training leading to a recognised qualification, and they are available at different levels, letting you choose the speed you wish to learn at.
Successful candidates will be able to progress onto a Level 3 Warehousing and Storage apprenticeship however Wiltshire College does not currently offer the Level 3 in Warehousing and Storage.
