Performing Arts BTEC Level 3 at St Michael's Church of England High School

Course description

If you are passionate about the Arts and love to perform then BTEC Performing Arts could be the course for you. Do you want to develop your skills in Drama and Dance? The Performing Arts course at South Sefton College will train you in the two arts disciplines of Drama and Dance developing your skills and making you a fully rounded performer.

Course content

You will study a total of six units, three in the first year and three in the second year. In year one, you will focus on many aspects of Performing Arts including urban dance and performing to audiences. In the second year, you will study three units including Dance, Drama and a combination of both disciplines.

Entry requirements

GCSE Dance / Drama / Performing Arts – C (if studied)
A willingness to participate in practical activities is essential.

Coursework – Unit 3 Certificate (33.3%)

Coursework – Unit 4 Certificate (33.3%)

Coursework – Unit 5 Certificate (33.3%)

Assessment is via coursework, both written assignments and practical performances, which will be externally moderated following the EDEXCEL specification.

Future opportunities

Studying Performing Arts will provide you with the skills needed to progress to further training in performing arts or dance/drama including university or arts school. It is excellent preparation for careers requiring high level interpersonal skills.
