Principles and Practise of Dental Nursing Level 3 CACHE Diploma Year 1 of 2 at Eastleigh College

Course description

This qualification focuses on direct chair-side work and support during a range of dental treatments. It encompasses the underpinning ethics, professionalism, teamwork and communication required to work as a Dental Nurse.

Methods of teaching will include direct teaching, small and large group work and independent research, demonstration of practical skills in our mock surgery as well as placement in the real work environment.

Entry requirements

  • Learners need to be at least 16 years old
  • You will require GCSEs at grade A*- C in English and Maths or successful completion of a Level 2 qualification at a high grade.
  • You will need to undertake an interview in college demonstrating interest and commitment to study.

Assessment

All work is assessed against grade boundaries. This includes projects, assignments, external assessments, 2 final online assessments and work based experience.

All learners are required to undertake substantial work placement that forms a mandatory and graded part of the qualification. This requires a 16 hour placement a week.

Financial information

It is recommended that students purchase a programme textbook, details of which can be obtained at the start of the term. Students are required to provide their own stationary and memory stick.

A college uniform is required to wear for work placement.

There is a mandatory charge for a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. If you have already been on a Childcare or Health and Social Care programme at Eastleigh College, this may not have to be updated.
