Course description

Do you want to explore the criminal mind and the basis for crime in society? This course is perfect for anyone that wants to explore an interesting balance of Criminology, Psychology and Forensic Science. Over the duration of the course you will have the opportunity to study the basis for crime and how it affects socitey; you will get to explore the criminal mind and discover the basis of psychological conditions; and you will have the opportunity to learn forensic science techniques and apply them to solve criminal cases.

Course content

We have aimed to provide an interesting mix of Criminology, Psychology and Forensic Science units including; Criminal Psychology, Criminal Investigation Procedures, Criminology, Forensic Science units with emphasis on providing hands-on approach for students to learn and practice techniques used by forensic scientists. We have taken time to develop our facilities, including building a brand new lab and obtaining top class technology. Students will have the opportunity to develop their practical skills in Forensic science

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs (or equivalent) grade A-C including Science, Maths and English

This course is 100% assignment based, great for anyone that prefers coursework to exams.

Future opportunities

This course is ideal for anyone that wishes to pursue a career in Criminology or Forensic Science. This course can provide a route into Higher education to study at degree level in a variety of areas such as Criminology, Criminal Justice, Psychology and Forensic Science. The course would provide an excellent basis to anyone wishing to pursue careers within the social workers, youth workers and community development workers. This course could also provide an excellent basis to anyone wishing to pursue careers within the criminal justice system or rehabilitation, including Police/Prison officers, probation officers, social workers, youth workers and community development workers. This course could also provide an excellent basis for anyone wishing to pursue a career in forensic science, gaining a fundamental knowledge of the techniques used in forensic science and how they are transferrable skills for anyone wishing to pursue careers in other areas such as Law, Journalism or perhaps even work in MI5.
