The course builds on from your GCSE knowledge in German.

In A Level you will study German within the context of the culture, society and way of life of the country. You will have the opportunity to improve your command of the language whether written or spoken. A level German combines very well with many A Level subjects, and you can study up to three languages at A Level. It also combines with a number of courses at University such as engineering or business, or it can lead to careers such as translator or interpreter.

Weekly sessions with native speakers are offered and you can subscribe to languages publications for extra listening and reading practice. You can also support in lower school languages lessons.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at Grade C is a minimum entry requirement, although we recommend an average of 8 Grade C GCSEs. You will also need to have achieved a grade C or above in GCSE German.
