Plumbing Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2 at Gloucestershire College

Course description

At college you will learn about Health and Safety, key plumbing principles, common plumbing processes, sheet lead roof work, cold water supplies, hot water supplies, domestic heating systems, sanitation systems, drainage systems, principles of electricity and lastly, employment rights and responsibilities.

You will also be taught key skills. Key skills are a range of skills that help you to succeed in education, employment, lifelong learning and personal development.

Key skills qualifications are in Communication, Application of numbers and ICT and are an integral part of your learning experience. It will help you to develop skills in problem solving, teamwork, delivery of presentations.

The learning will take place in Gloucestershire College’s enviable construction department. In there, you’ll find individual installation bays where you can practice what you’ve learnt before applying your knowledge in the workplace.

Entry requirements

Apprenticeship schemes are ideal for people who want to learn and work at the same time.

The course is very hands-on and means you get to put theory to practice straight away.

Also apprenticeships are respected in the building services industry therefore it’s a great way to secure a future as a plumber. To be considered, you You will need to have 3 GCSE's at grade D or above.

Assessment

Assessment will be both practical and theory and assessed throughout the course to ensure you can complete work to industry standard times. You will be assigned a coordinator who will meet with you and your employer to set goals and monitor your progress.

Future opportunities

The next step is to progress onto the Advanced Apprenticeship course where you will gain further skills, knowledge and understanding of the plumbing industry and prepare for a supervisory role.
