Equine Studies – Level 1 Diploma at Sparsholt College

Course description

This course is ideal if you have little or no formal qualifications and you want to start your journey into a career with horses.

Course content

As a work based course you will be based at the Equine Centre four days per week, gaining practical industry experience. You will also spend a day developing your English and Maths and building a portfolio of theoretical knowledge and experience.  During the course you’ll visit a range of equine businesses and take part in trips to international events such as Badminton and Blenheim Horse Trials, helping you to gain a real insight into the industry.

If you are not a confident rider or do not wish to ride, a non-riding option is also available.

Entry requirements

Two GCSEs at grade E or above or evidence of studying Entry Level 3.

If you choose to do the riding option you will be assessed on your riding skills at interview.
