Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing at The Open Academy

Course description

This course prepares you for going straight in to a salon as a qualified junior Hairdresser. It builds on your existing Level 1 and 2 qualifications, so you can achieve a full Level 2 professional NVQ qualification.

OA6 has partnered with Anglian Academy of Hair to offer students a unique opportunity to prepare fully for a career in hairdressing. All students will leave with a highly regarded full professional qualification desired by salons across the country. In addition, students will have the opportunity to study higher level units exploring particular specialisms.

The course will be jointly delivered by OA6 staff and professional hairdressing instructors from Anglian Academy of Hair. As part of the course, you will have city centre salon experience, and will aim to build up regular contact with customers.

Rather than simply touching on a range of skills, you will have the chance to develop confidence in a range of areas. You will cover all of the areas required for the full NVQ qualification, not just the VRQ. In addition, you can study Level 3 units.

It is a full two year course, including work experience and training at the Anglian Academy of Hair and Open Academy. Unlike some courses, you will also have the opportunity to choose one other option at OA6.

This course has been developed in response to consultation with professional salons. Successful candidates will be actively supported by OA6 and Anglian Academy of Hair in securing apprenticeships and posts in salons, on completion of the course.

Entry requirements

Students wishing to study at our Hair Academy should ideally have achieved qualifications in Hair at Key Stage 4.
