Building Maintenance - Level 2 at Middlesbrough College

Course description

This programme has been devised for learners who aspire to gain employment as a repair & restoration specialist. This is a specialised trade that has a dedicated skills set which allows the leaners to carry out repairs to existing structures. Trades covered are as follows: Brickwork, Carpentry, Plastering, Plumbing, Paving and Painting & Decorating.

Construction trade occupations Health & Safety Building Principles Erect & Dismantle site barriers Set out and lay domestic drainage Set out and lay slabs & foundations

Entry requirements

4 GCSE at grade D or above including Maths, English Language & Science or a Level 1 qualification in a relevant trade area . Progressing learners must also have a Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths. "If you do not have a Grade A to C in English and/or Maths, you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your Study Programme."

Multiple choice exam Practical (direct observation) Verbal/written questioning

Future opportunities

Students can become an apprentice if they find an employer. There is also the opportunity to progress onto a level 3 programme within the construction department.
