Then this exciting and challenging course might just be what you need to get you started in business. The qualification runs over one year and could be your first step towards planning your future business empire.

The course is designed to give you a broad understanding of business and start your journey towards a successful career in business. You will study a range of industry relevant business areas, preparing you for further study, an apprenticeship or employment within the business industry.

During the course you will cover the following core and mandatory units:

  • Enterprise in the Business World
  • Finance for Business
  • Principles of Marketing

You will also study additional units covering areas such as:

  • Introducing Retail Business
  • Sales and Personal Selling
  • Promoting a Brand
  • Building Successful Business Teams
  • Business Online
  • Principles of Customer Service
  • Enhancing the Customer Experience
  • Financial Planning and Forecasting

Entry requirements

You need to between 16 and 18 years of age with a minimum of 4 GCSEs at a minimum of grade D. These grades will ideally include maths and English at GCSE grade 4 or above.

You may have to study maths and English with us if you do not already have the required grades when starting the course.

Assessment

You will be assessed through a range of methods, including online examination and a series of practical assignments. You will be assessed both externally (by BTEC) and internally (by your tutors). You will be given continuous feedback and support on your work for all units throughout the course.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course, a merit grade achieved will allow you to progress onto a range of Level 3 qualifications with us including our Level 3 Diploma in Business.

Alternatively you could seek an apprenticeship or employment in the industry.

English and Maths will be built into your course if your grades are below 4/5.
