Course description

18 units - equivalent to 3 A level

The course is equivalent to 3 A Levels and provides the knowledge, understanding and skills for young people who want a career as a business decision-maker.

This course is for students who are interested in learning about business and who would like to become part of the UK's dynamic business culture. It is a practical course which will give you the skills for the world of work and help you to add value to business activities in any organisation. You will complete projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

You will study four core units and up to 18 specialist units. The range of subjects offered includes business and management, product promotion, presentation, recruitment and selection, European business operations and managing teams.

Course content

You will study core topics including:

  • Introduction to business
  • Business and management
  • Creative product promotion
  • Presenting business information.

You will also study up to 18 specialist units covering a range of topics, such as:

  • Recruitment and selection
  • European business operations
  • Managing teams.

Entry requirements

At least 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English or Mathematics and at least a B Grade in a related GCSE or a Merit Grade in a Level 2 vocational qualification.

Assessment

All units are assessed via assignments. An overall grade for the qualification is awarded which has UCAS equivalence and is recognised by universities in the UK when establishing their entry requirements for higher education.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course you will be able to progress to the HND in Business or a degree in business, marketing, finance or accounting at university or find employment working in a role using technology and business.

      The excellent facilities of the sixth form centre include seven fully equipped ICT rooms, which are also used for teaching and private study as well as a common room. There is a large sixth form
      team which comprises of the Deputy Head (Curriculum), Head and Deputy Head of Sixth Form, Sixth Form Learning Mentor, Careers Officer, Attendance Officer and Study Supervisor.
