Psychology is the science that helps to explain human behaviour. It is an exciting academic option that challenges students to consider a wide range of explanations for differences in behaviour and to use evidence to reach conclusions. There will be an opportunity to assess progress at the end of year twelve through two examinations on topics covered in year 12; these will be re-visited in year 13 together with new material. Research methods underpin all topics which will include key psychological approaches; experiments and studies which have been carried out; social influence and how people conform/obey; memory and how long/short term memories are formed; attachment and how children bod with their primary caregiver; biopsychology; psychopathology; gender; aggression.
