Physics AS/A2 Level at Hope Academy

Course description

 

 

  • You will learn about the four fundamental forces of nature: gravity, electromagnetism, strong and weak nuclear forces.
  • Your studies will concentrate on the concepts behind these forces and how matter interacts with each of them, from basic "pushes and pulls" to how exotic subatomic particles interact.

Entry requirements

 

 

 

  • Hopefully you will have developed a general interest in Physics during your Core and Additional Science or Physics GCSE course.
  • You will need to have gained B in GCSE Physics and one other Science or BB in Core & Additional Science. A-C in GCSE Mathematics will also be required. AS Physics is not suitable for OCR National students.
  • If you have good analytical skills and can use basic Mathematics you should be well equipped to tackle Physics.

Assessment

Exam for each unit.

Future opportunities

 

 

  • Physics is a requirement for many University courses including Engineering, Maths and Computer Science.
  • It is also a very useful starting point for careers in Medicine, Medical Physics, Radiology, Dentistry and Veterinary Science.
