BTEC Level 3 First Nationals in Travel & Tourism at Appleby Heritage Centre

Course description

BTEC provide a practical insight into the workings of real businesses and the secrets of their success. A BTEC is an ideal qualification for those looking to secure a job within a service or retail sector, or indeed for those looking to study at a university.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Course content

Students will study modules in:

  • Investigating the Travel and Tourism Sector
  • Customer Service in Travel and Tourism
  • The UK as a destination

Subsidiary AS Units:
The business of travel and tourism and 2 optional units.

AS Units plus Subsidiary:
AS units plus subsidiary units and 6 optional units.

 

Entry requirements

To study at Level 3 students will need to be 16 years old and normally have at least 4 GCSE's (grades A-C) or equivalent. Students should have a good level of numeracy and literacy to engage with the theoretical aspects of the course.

 

Assessment

You will be continuously assessed by the completion of assignments, which will be continuous throughout the school year, resulting in the submission of a portfolio of work.

 

Future opportunities

The BTEC First National is broadly equivalent toone GCE AS Level and is widely recognised by both universities and the various employers in travel and tourism sector.
