A Level Computer Science at Altrincham College

Course description

This specification promotes the integrated study of computer science. It will enable learners to develop a broad range of skills in the areas of programming, system development, computer architecture, data, communication and applications.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grades A*-C including English Language, Maths and ICT.


Linear A Levels are externally assessed courses with examinations covering all units sat at the end of year 13. All students will have exams at the end of Y12 to benchmark progress. The results will be used as an indicator that a student has the cpability to progress into Y13 and complete A Level.

Future opportunities

Students can use this qualification to progress to university to study a higher education foundation degree or other professional development programme. Some may enter a specialist area of employment.
