Women’s Hairdressing L2 Diploma at Bishop Auckland College

Course description

If your dream is to become a top Hair Stylist then this is the place to start. You will learn and practice the skills needed to be successful in your career; whether this is travelling the world, working on a cruise liner, running your own salon or working in the entertainment industry. The opportunities are as broad as your imagination. This full time course is taught over 3 days a week and as well as a work placement.

Course content

You will be able practice your skills in our purpose built salons gaining valuable work experience. Units of study are: Working in the Hair Industry,Follow Health & Safety in the Salon, Client consultation for hair services, Shampoo and condition hair and scalp, The art of dressing hair, Cut women’s hair, Colour and lighten hair, Perm and neutralise hair, Create an image based on a theme, Plaiting and twisting hair & the Promoting of products and services.

Future opportunities

This programme aims to help you to develop the skills, knowledge and experience to gain a Level 2 qualification and to become a practising Hairdresser.


What can I do when I finish?

You may want to explore a variety of Beauty Therapy courses we have on offer or progress to Level 2 Barbering or Level 3 Hairdressing qualification.

Materials needed

All students in the Hairdressing and Beauty department are required to wear a uniform and purchase their own hairdressing kit which can be purchased from the College. (Support may be provided). Essential for all practical sessions
