Hairdressing Apprenticeship Intermediate Level 2 at Southampton City College

Course description

This apprenticeship is suitable for you if you want to start a career or develop your existing skills in hairdressing. You’ll work closely with clients and will need the ability to put them at ease, and generally be pleasant and personable. In addition to hair salons, employers can range from the film or television industries, luxury cruise ships, hotels and in the exciting world of fashion.

Course content

Duties are likely to include

  • Booking appointments
  • Shampooing
  • Conditioning, drying and styling hair
  • Mixing and applying hair colourings

Entry requirements

No previous qualifications are required and a full assessment will take place to ensure you have the skills to complete the qualification. Those wishing to progress onto an advanced apprenticeship will require GCSE’s A*-C in English and maths (or equivalent) or demonstrate, through the assessment process, that you are able to achieve this.

Assessment

As an apprentice you can expect to undertake work based learning with an employer and to be paid a wage. The apprenticeship will include an NVQ diploma, functional skills and knowledge based element or technical certificate.
