Course description

The A Level scheme is designed to meet the needs of a wide range of candidates and there are numerous combinations of units giving rise to a very flexible system. It is a highly logical and analytical course with a focus on problem solving and covers a diverse range of topics within its modules.

The core units feature algebra of increasing complexity, and students with developed algebraic knowledge are preferred.

A’ level Mathematics is a well respected qualification which will help students toprepare for further education in a wide range of fields as well as leading to many employment opportunities. It is a highly logical and analytical course with a focus on problem solving and covers a diverse range of topics within its modules.

The course is availab+le alongside other subjects (depending on blocks set on uptake) and is complete in 1 year for AS level and 2 years for the full A’ level.

Students will study three modules a year.

  • Year 12 will include Core 1 and Core 2.
  • Year 13 will include Core 3 and Core 4.
  • The third module each year will be either Mechanics 1 or Decision 1 or Probability & Statistics 1.

  • Entry requirements

    Students need a minimum Grade B in GCSE Mathematics. Grade A or A* in Mathematics is recommended.
