Business: Tech-level Marketing at New College Swindon
Course description
This course, which has been developed in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) is the equivalent of two A levels and carries the equivalent UCAS points.
In this subject you learn the principles of marketing, how to communicate with customers and how technologies such as social networking influence buyer behaviour. You will also learn how effective market research is undertaken, how to be responsible in business and how to develop relationships with people connected to the business. Learners who take this qualification and go on to graduate from university are also eligible for affiliate membership of the CIM.
Employability skills are an important element within the design of AQA Tech –level qualifications and the following skills will be developed and assessed in response to the needs of employers:

The Tech-level in Marketing is one of the three components of the new Technical Baccalaureate, and can be taken in combination with other A levels such as the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ NC826) and Core Maths (NC852)
Course content
The course is taught by two tutors. There are eight modules studied over two years, two of which are externally assessed by AQA. The remaining six modules will be assessed internally with a set task allocated for each unit. The assessment schedule follows the following pattern:

Year 2
Unit 6 Marketing Research
Unit 7 Digital Essentials
Unit 8 Stakeholder Engagement
Unit 2 Collaborative Project
Entry requirements
You should have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s grade C and above, including English Language and Maths.

This is a very valuable qualification for any student aiming to continue studying at a higher level, or for those thinking of a career in the following careers: Account Management, Business Development, Event and Hospitality Management, Marketing Consultancy, Marketing, Market Research, Public Relations (PR), Sales and Social Media. This Tech-level can be taken alongside Business, Economics, IT, Languages, Psychology and Sociology.
This qualification also offers progression towards the Level 3 Digital Marketing Trailblazer Apprenticeship and can lead to undergraduate study in the following areas: Advertising, Business Management, Communications, Economics, Marketing, Market Research and PR.
Professional qualifications are also offered through the CIM.
