Mathematics (Further) A Level at Cirencester College

Course description

This course is for year 2 students only, who have performed highly in their first year of A Level Mathematics and would like to add more maths into their study programme during their second year at College. The reasons for this could be shear enjoyment of the subject and / or to ensure that they have the appropriate entry requirements for their chosen university course.

The course is made up of three modules:

  • Further Pure Mathematics
  • Two other Optional modules

Further Pure Mathematics is a compulsory module and Statistics 2 and Decision Maths 1 are the recommended units for the optional modules.

Entry requirements

It is for anyone who has already studied AS Mathematics and achieved at least a grade C. You must have completed either Statistics 1 or Mechanics 1.

Assessment

Assessment is through exams at the end of each module.

Future opportunities

Further Mathematics is useful for students considering studying degrees in Sciences especially Physics, Engineering, and of course, Mathematics.
