Theatre Studies A Level at Bourne Grammar School

Course description

The false assumption often made with AS and A2 Drama and Theatre Studies is that it is primarily an acting course and consequently of little relevance to future careers or prospects beyond drama and theatre. In reality, Drama and Theatre Studies is firmly rooted in creativity, sensitivity and the development of critical and communication skills. It covers the study of play texts (from a design and performance perspective), the study of theatre practitioners and demands an ability to write about the range of productions seen. Students are also required to perform script work and devise a piece of drama as a group. A successful student will have an academic interest in drama and theatre (from a design, technical and performance perspective), and a willingness to develop critical and communication skills.
