Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Diploma Level 1 at Canterbury College Not
This course will prepare you for work in the motor vehicle retail industry. It can also lead to further vocational qualifications required by employers.
Lessons are a mix of practical and theory. You will learn: vehicle systems; removal and refitting of service parts; and you will also be encouraged to spend one day a week in a retail garage. You will also learn functional skills.
You'll need: four GCSEs at grades D or E (including Maths and English), or a Level 1 qualification (or above) in the functional skills diagnostic 'Number, Communication & ICT' test. You will also need a satisfactory report from school or previous learning institution. Entry onto the course is subject to an interview.
You'll put together a portfolio of work, do timed tests, and be observed carrying out tasks.
Students can move into a job or onto the Level 2 Motor Vehicle Service & Repair course.
You will have to pay for an overall, boots and a memory stick. These costs will be discussed at the interview stage.
