Design and Technology AS at Tomlinscote School and Sixth Form College
Product Design - A higher level course allowing students to develop and sustain innovation, creativity and design technology capability and produce high quality products. At this level, the first three modules will be assessed. Industrial and Commercial Products and Practices, Product Development, Materials Components and Systems. You may well choose to stop at this level and you will be certificated for the work you have already done. You may also decide to continue through to the full ‘A’ Level qualification and cover the following three units of study.
5 C grades at GCSE including English
You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses such as Art and Design and Computing or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Design and Technology, which could lead onto higher education in areas of and design, technology, architecture or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to design and technology such as an Architect, Carpenter or Computer Technician. You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that will encourage you to explore your creative mind and help you develop the basic skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
