Art A Level at Harlow College

Course description

Explore a range of media, processes and techniques. You will also explore images, artefacts and resources that relate to art from the past and present, both European and non-European. You will demonstrate your response to this art though practical and critical activities that show your understanding of different styles, genres and traditions. You will explore drawing using a variety of methods and media.

Course content


  • Unit 1: Coursework 50% of AS, 25% of A Level
  • Unit 2: Controlled test 50% of AS, 25% of A Level
  • Unit 3: Coursework 25% of A Level set and marked by the centre, moderated by EDEXCEL
  • Unit 4: Controlled test 25% of A Level, a range of questions is set by EDEXCEL. Candidates have a 15 hour controlled test.

Entry requirements

7 GCSEs Grades A* - C with an average points score of 45, plus GCSE Art at grade B or above.

Financial information

Free to learners aged 16-18. You will be expected to pay for stationery and textbooks. A range of financial support is available.
