Employability & Personal Development (Entry Level) at York Learning - City of York Council
This is a general introductory vocational qualification with a strong emphasis on preparing the student for a more vocational pathway post 16, be it within the workplace or in a college setting. There is also an element of life skills and personal development.

The Employability and Personal Development Skills qualification is available at Entry Level 2, Entry Level 3 and Level 1.
The qualification is delivered within the workplace and portfolio building at school or York Learning.
5 units must be completed for the Employability and Personal Development Skills qualification. Units consist of 2 mandatory; Planning for Progression and Effective Skills for Learning and Work, 3 optional units must be completed and can be chosen to suit individual needs and vocational interests.
Observations within the workplace and by completion of all units.
Students or more usually their schools,will have to meet occasional minor expenses for visits, transport, equipment or protective clothing (uniforms).
You could go on to:
- Vocational qualifications at Level 1 or 2
- Work based learning
- Full time further education or work
Students will participate in a work placement for one day a week and attend portfolio building half a day a week at York Learnin or school. Students on work placement will be expected to work for normal hours of the business. Placements are for term time only. Students who are entitled to free school meals would be financially supported with this.
