Pathways 16-18 at West Lancashire College

Course description

These programmes of study are ideal for those learners who are unsure of their next steps. This programme could be a first step into a Traineeship, Apprenticeship, future career or progression onto another subject area.

The programme will allow learners to explore their strengths and develop skills that would be transferable to other programmes of study, all delivered in a caring, supportive learning environment. Teamwork is a major part of the programme and learners will undertake a work placement and community project.

This course is for 16-18 year olds who are not in employment, education or training.

Course content

We offer Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2 Programmes.

Students will study:
• Vocational training within a chosen area
• Progression Qualifications
• Functional Skills
• Drugs Awareness
• Tutorial

 

Learners will undertake a period of work experience appropriate to your course as part of the programme of study.

Maths and English will be part of your programme of study and you will study qualifications in Maths and English, appropriate to your level of ability, alongside your chosen course.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, but candidates will be interviewed to assess their suitability for the course. We are interested in your enthusiasm and commitment to succeed.

Assessment

Students will be assessed throughout the duration of the course via practical and written tasks.

Future opportunities

Students will gain knowledge to choose the next step to a vocational course at college, training or employment.

The course will help students to improve their personal skills and employment prospects.
