Further Mathematics A Level at New Mills School and Sixth Form

Course description

A Further Maths A-Level would be a particular advantage, and in some cases is a requirement, if you are looking to go to university to study a degree in Maths or other subjects in science and engineering.


Course content

In Year 12, you will be introduced to the relatively new branch of Maths called Decision Maths, which is a powerful tool. It is the Maths that is used in Satellite Navigation and is used to make high powered business decisions. You will also study more in depth Core Maths.

In Year 13 You will study a final Core Maths unit and deepen your knowledge of Mechanics and Statistics. 

Entry requirements

To study Further Maths, you must be taking A-level Mathematics and should ideally have a minimum of a grade A at GCSE. 

Future opportunities

This broad spread of disciplines allows you to go on to study any of the Maths related disciplines rather than restricting you in your later Maths career.
