Games Design & Development BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Lambeth College

Course description

Please note: In the first year you will study towards a BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma. To join or progress to the Extended Diploma you will need to pass the 90 Credit Diploma.

You will study the following topics:

  • Setting up and maintaining computer systems, understanding their common components and recommending computer systems for business
  • Software design and development
  • Object oriented and procedural programming 
  • Computer game development and design
  • Computer gaming technologies and connecting and configuring platforms and devices to enable gameplay
  • Digital graphics and web animation for interactive media
  • Working with graphic images and graphical file formats, editing, modifying and manipulating images
  • Devising and producing 2D animation with soundtrack and evaluating audience response
  • Systems analysis and design solutions
  • Website production, architecture and factors that influence performance
  • Designing and creating websites
  • Web server scripting
  • Interactive media authoring including devising and creating an interactive media product
  • The impact of computer games on society
